Mr. K.P.G. Nagarathnam, M.A.

SON OF K.P.GURUSWAMY

Mr. K.P.G. Nagarathnam was an eminent business icon, pioneer industrialist, and highly respected family patriarch hailing from the commercial hub of Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. Renowned for his sharp entrepreneurial foresight, he successfully transitioned from traditional trade into modern industrial manufacturing, establishing a lasting footprint in the South Indian printing and packaging sector.

Early Life, Lineage, and Education

Mr. Nagarathnam was born as the only son of K.P. Guruswamy Ayya and Guruvammal, a venerable figure from Virudhunagar. Growing up in a region legendary for its commercial acumen, Nagarathnam was provided with a premium education—a rarity for many regional businessmen of his generation.

He moved to Chennai (then Madras) to pursue higher studies, joining the prestigious Pachaiyappa's College, where he graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree. His academic grounding seamlessly complemented his innate business instincts, preparing him to modernize the family's entrepreneurial legacy.

Industrial Pioneering & Business Achievements

Mr. Nagarathnam's business journey is defined by two major phases that showcase his adaptability and innovation :

  • Non-Edible Oils Trading : He initially established a successful business footprint dealing in non-edible oils, mastering raw material sourcing, B2B trading networks, and supply chain logistics.

  • The Packaging Frontier (Radhi Prints and Packages) : Spotting a massive shift toward commercial consumer branding in India, he pivoted into the industrial manufacturing sector as a true pioneer of the packaging industry. He founded Radhi Prints and Packages, bringing high-quality printing technology to regional manufacturers.

Milestone Project: Partnering with Aavin

His crowning industrial achievement came during the foundational expansion of Tamil Nadu’s dairy cooperative powerhouse, Aavin. Mr. Nagarathnam personally designed and printed the packaging for Aavin’s very first market outlet for butter and milk powder. This breakthrough positioned Rathi Prints as a trusted institutional partner, helping shape the early retail visual identity of one of South India's most beloved consumer brands.
